Gamepad and Joystick Controls Reference
NB: You can now remap your controller buttons using the mapper under the in-game settings menu. Menu > Controls > Remap… This is often necessary for generic oystic (including steering wheels and pedals kits). Please reach out should you require help.
Here is the complete list of default controls for standard XInput-compatible gamepads (like Xbox controllers) and generic joysticks. Please note that some actions require a combination of button presses. Below is a typical gamepad layout with both joystick and standard gamepad button labels:

Vehicle
- Throttle Right Trigger
- Brake: Right Stick Up
- Steering: Left Stick (Left & Right)
- Handbrake: Right Stick Down
- Start/Stop Engine: Left Trigger + Button East
- Clutch: Left Trigger
- Gear Shift Up: Button North (Y / Triangle)
- Gear Shift Down: Button South (A / X)
- Neutral Gear: Button West (X / Square)
- Indicator Right: D-Pad Right
- Indicator Left: D-Pad Left
- Indicator Hazard: D-Pad Down
Rescue/Refill/Repair: Right Trigger + Button East (B / Circle)– use F on Keyboard- Hooter: Left Stick Down
- Trailer Detach: Right Trigger + D-Pad Down
Camera
- Orbit Camera: Right Stick (Left & Right)
- Reset Camera: Left Trigger + Right Stick Press
- Check cross traffic: Button West
Menus & Actions (Kervin)
- Open Vehicle Actions Menu: Hold Select/Back Button
- Belt Up: Menu
- Left Blind Spot (Hold): Left Shoulder
- Right Blind Spot (Hold): Right Shoulder
- Confirm Action (ENTER): Select/Back Button
- Pause / Back (ESC): Start/Menu Button
UI Navigation (Needs to be confirmed)
- Navigate: Left Stick or D-Pad
- Submit: Button South (A / X)
- Cancel / Back: Button East (B / Circle)

Many of the below have changed (and it’s not easy to keep the list ship shape as Joysticks do not follow a standard key mapping like Gamepad) – please remap at best.

- Throttle / Brake: Main Stick Y-Axis (Up & Down) (NB: Make sure you have Analogue turned On)
- Steering: Main Stick X-Axis (Left & Right)
- Handbrake: Button 2
- Start/Stop Engine: Button 8 + Trigger
- Clutch: Button 7
- Gear Shift Up: Trigger
- Gear Shift Down: Button 3
- Neutral Gear: Button 4
